Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life. This position involves working closely with clients in various settings, including long-term care facilities, assisted living environments, and home care situations. The DSP is responsible for promoting independence while delivering compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.

We are hiring for two positions in Onslow County.

Duties

Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, fostering an inclusive environment. Monitor clients' health and behavior, documenting any changes or concerns in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive skills, particularly in memory care settings. Implement individualized care plans and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support. Administer first aid as necessary and respond promptly to emergencies or health-related issues. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring all equipment is properly utilized and maintained.

Requirements

Previous experience in long-term care, home care, or assisted living environments is preferred. Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities or autism is highly desirable. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy. Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members. Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive attitude while working with diverse populations. Physical capability to assist clients as needed, including lifting or transferring individuals safely when required.
