We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, and within the community. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.
Duties
Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Monitor and document patient vital signs and overall health status, ensuring adherence to care plans.
Assist with meal preparation and cooking, catering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
Utilize techniques for patient observation, monitoring behavior changes, and reporting any concerns to supervisory staff.
Provide support in mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Offer companionship and emotional support while fostering a positive relationship with clients.
Assist with community outings and transportation to and from medical appointments.
Qualifications
Previous experience as Direct Support Professional
Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities.
Certification in CPR/First Aid, MANDT and LLAM is preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical capability to perform heavy lifting as needed while assisting clients.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
