Job Description
My House SLS - Kimball, MN is hiring Direct Support Professionals for evening, weekends, and asleep weekend shifts. As a Direct Support Professional you will provide direct care to individuals who have intellectual, physical, or developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) help people with disabilities live independently by assisting with daily activities, community integration, employment, and personal goals, focusing on teaching skills rather than just providing care.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Living:
Assisting with personal care (dressing, hygiene), meal prep, household tasks, and mobility.Community Integration:
Helping individuals access community resources, transportation, jobs, and social events.Skill Building:
Teaching new skills for independence, problem-solving, and decision-making, focusing on potentials, not limitations.Health Support:
Administering medication, providing basic wound care, and supporting individual appointments.Advocacy:
Championing the rights and choices of individuals with disabilities.Requirements & Training
Education:
Preferred but not required a High school diploma or GED.Skills:
Strong communication, patience, problem-solving, and reliability.Checks:
Background checks are mandatory and processed through DHS, this means no criminal records are accepted. Physicals and drug screenings are not required at this time; but may be required at any time during employment.Certifications:
These certifications are helpful but not required at this time, but may be required at any time during employment: CPR, First Aid, and behavior management training, with national certification (DSP-I, DSP-II, DSP-III) available via the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) .Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
