Job Description

Looking for someone who has experience working with people with developmental disabilities and behaviors as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) who is flexible.

Lookoing for a person who can be a back up for other DSPs to cover participants that we assist when someone calls out or has a planned day off.

We assist a young man in Poway with autism. Our Participant lives in his own partment in a complex for Developmentally Disabled Adults. There are many social activities and he has a day program some days. He has regular daily support staff (DSP), this is when they call out.

Possible Hours:

Monday - Friday from 9AM-5PM and 5PM to 9PM are 2 shifts

We have over 35 DSPs and havea need for a floater.

There is a 20 hours a week position available also.

Another position :

(Can be combined) Up to 20 hours providing personal assistance for an individual needing help rinning errands, household management, Dr's appointments, grocery shopping etc.

We are looking for the right individual who is experienced and has flexibility.

DSP Responsibilities:



Looking for someone fun, wants to do activities, has good communication skills and wants to have a position assisting someone to improve their life, live in the community as any other adult, likes to go places.

-Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities

-Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation

-Drive individual to outings, or community activities (valid driver's license and proof of insurance required $100,000/$300,000)

-Provide companionship and engage in social activities with individual

- Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals

- Document and maintain accurate records of individual progress and incidents

- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well-being of individuals

- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals

Skills

:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

- Knowledge of systems for providing support to individuals with disabilities

- Familiarity with social work principles and practices

- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements

- First aid and CPR certification preferred

Experience:



- Previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Familiarity with providing patient care and assisting with ADLs
- Experience with behavioral issues such as redirecting.

Note: Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate potential and willingness to learn.

Experience



Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health settings preferred Certification in First aid is required and CPR is a plus; ongoing training provided for qualified candidates
