The Direct Care Worker at Adult Learning Learning-Lower Michigan Inc. is responsible for providing compassionate and professional care to individuals with disabilities in a 24-hour licensed residential setting. This role is crucial in supporting consumer' daily living activities, ensuring their well-being, and promoting a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist consumer with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while respecting their dignity and privacy.
Support consumers in managing their daily routines, including meal preparation, medication administration, and housekeeping duties.
Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere by engaging consumers in social and recreational activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
Monitor and document consumers' health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Provide transportation and accompany consumers to appointments, community events, or other activities as needed.
Ensure a safe and clean environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and organizational policies.
Required Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, or 1 year of experience in a health care setting providing consumer care.
Required Experience:
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health conditions is highly desirable.
Proven track record of providing compassionate and effective care to adults in a residential or community setting.
Essential Job Functions

Must be able to lift 50 lbs and physically position individuals (with training).

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently in emergencies.
Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of consumer progress and activities.
Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in care environments.
