The Direct Support Professional provides comprehensive care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a day program classroom setting. Teaches ADL goals, academics, arts and crafts projects, zoom activities and assists with personal hygiene needs, train and assist individuals in the use of community resources, i.e., parks, library and other recreational facilities teaching independence and self reliance.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals in a day program setting.
- Assist program participants in academic activities
- Engage individuals in recreational activities and social interactions.
- Provide transportation to appointments or community outings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any changes in individuals' conditions.
Skills:
- Ability to lift heavy objects or individuals when necessary.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families,
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Patience and compassion when working with individuals who may have physical or cognitive disabilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
