Job Description


The Digital Communications Manager has a passion for and a proven track record of finding and engaging audiences in the ever-evolving digital ecosystem through websites, social media, emails, and other channels. This role includes a combination of creative content production and technical skills, serving the digital communications needs of both the Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (PPMW), a 501(c)(3), and PPMW\'s affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization, Planned Parenthood Advocates for DC, Maryland, and NoVa (PPADMV).

This team member will create channel-specific, on-trend, on-brand content that is visually engaging and meets PPMW and PPADMV\'s communications strategy. They will also track and interpret data to assess campaigns, build ROI, and inform future strategy. The Manager reports to the Assistant Vice President of Communications (AVPC) and will work on a communications team that seeks to advance the organization\'s position with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness and donor support.

  • Under the AVPC\'s guidance, create, implement, and monitor integrated digital campaigns to advance PPMW and PPADMV\'s brand identity, increase program engagement and priorities, and support fundraising success.
  • Manage organic search campaigns and optimize SEO.
  • Deliver effective PPMW and PPADMV campaigns across multiple ad networks, including Google Ads, paid social, and other platforms.
  • With the AVPC and marketing colleagues, establish and track KPIs, optimize marketing funnels, and improve landing page conversion rates.
  • Leverage KPIs to measure ROI and to analyze and report on social media visibility and campaign success to make future data-driven decisions.
  • Build engagement across PPMW and PPADMV\'s social media channels \xe2\x80\x93 currently including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage social media content on PPMW\'s editorial calendar, in partnership with the AVPC.
  • Coordinate the social media elements of communications and marketing campaigns, collaborating with colleagues in Communications, Marketing, Development, Education, Public Affairs, and other areas to create and deploy innovative, memorable, on-brand, and timely content for breaking news and major initiatives.
  • Work with marketing colleagues to create social and digital media assets including, but not limited to, static graphics, motion graphics, and GIFs.
  • Coordinate a social media group including content creators and stakeholders on PPMW staff.
  • Manage content archives, including video and photo repositories, and serve as a key partner for contracted photographers and videographers documenting PPMW and PPADMV events and programs.
  • Help administer PPMW websites and publish content.
  • Keep up with and amplify messaging provided by Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).
  • Remain up-to-date with digital media trends and tools that will continue to advance PPMW\'s communications.
  • Help ensure all communications meet brand and DEI guidelines.
  • This position may require some evening and weekend work.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Either bachelor\'s degree in digital media, marketing, communications, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of work experience in digital communications and/or marketing, OR a minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Solid experience with social media management tools, such as Hootsuite.
  • Experience with design tools for marketing and communications work, such as Canva and InDesign.
  • Solid experience with designing content and paid advertising for key social media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube).
  • Knowledge of editing programs such as Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and asset management systems (e.g. for photo and video archives).
  • Advanced experience with web analytic tools.
  • Experience with Google Ads and Google Campaign Manager.
  • Knowledge of digital strategy and current trends and best practices in digital media tools and best practices.
  • Basic budgeting skills to reconcile paid digital media placements with the available budget.
