Examples of Duties

Review all permit applications/site plans for drainage, water/sewer availability, flood elevations, minimum finished floor elevations, and residential driveways. Verify plats and replats to determine building site plan requirements. Use your computer skills to prepare fund or fee reports and provide data input, tracking, and other administrative duties. Use your excellent communication and customer service skills to work with the public. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, and At least two (2) years of technical or vocational school with courses in civil engineering or drafting, and At least two (2) years of administrative office support experience, including permitting process experience; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to read and interpret site plans, surveys, construction blueprints, and floodplain maps. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.




During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.




In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.




Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
