PAY SCALE:

  • Nursing Supervisor II: $39.81 - $52.23
  • Nursing Supervisor III: $44.84 - $58.83
JOB SUMMARY:

The Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Detox program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervises all nursing staff and ensures detox milieu is a safe and supportive environment for patients detoxing from substances and alcohol.
  • Ensures that staffing and patient ratios are maintained in accordance with OARs.
  • Receives client complaints and grievances and ensures that they are communicated to the Program Director.
  • Performs clinical supervision of direct reports and performs annual employee evaluations
  • Ensures that all CNA, CMAs and nursing staff are following scope of practice, OARs, OSBN guidelines
  • Maintains department budgets reporting expenditures to the Program Director.
  • Reports to the Detox Program Director
  • Maintains high standards of care for all patients for all nursing staff;
  • Manages patients\' data and medical records as confidential records in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR, and Oregon Statutes;
  • Communicates with doctors, patients, and authorized family members about patient health;
  • Recruits, trains, and onboards new nursing staff;
  • Provides ongoing education classes for all nursing staff;
  • Implements new procedures and trains nursing staff on policies;
  • Oversees intakes, discharges scheduling process, and transfers to BestCare Treatment Services residential or outpatient, and/or outside agency programs as necessary;
  • Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to gather medical history and manage the intake process;
  • Administers routine PRN and detox medications as indicated;
  • Implements motivational interviewing and active listening techniques in supporting clients recovering from drug/alcohol dependence;
  • May perform wound care, venipuncture, and diabetic testing;
  • Oversees and manages detox milieu
  • Supports clients in understanding and performing daily wellness tasks to care for themselves;
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, and recommending necessary adjustment;
  • Ensures that detox division and nursing division philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and the OAR\'s are followed;
  • Supervises, delegates, and assigns care as appropriate to RN\'s, LPN\'s, CMA\'s, and/or CNA\'s;
  • Provides referrals to outside agencies as indicated;
  • Provides education regarding healthy recovery and medical concepts related to addiction and may deliver training as directed by Program Director;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Level II requires an Associate\'s Degree in Nursing plus experience working with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders, and/or community health services
  • Level III requires a Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing plus experience working with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders, and/or community health services
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a supervisory role
  • For individuals recovering from the disease of addiction, must have maintained continuous sobriety for the previous two years at the time of hire
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Current Register Nurse (RN) in Oregon
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Certified in First Aid methods including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire, and be insurable under the organization\'s auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations)
PREFERRED:
  • Experience working with diverse, multi-cultural communities preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Must have demonstrated competency or ability to attain competency for each of the following within a reasonable period:
  • Must have the training, knowledge, and/or experience demonstrating competence in the treatment of the disease of addiction, including the management of withdrawal; client evaluation; motivational counseling techniques; and the taking and recording of vital signs
  • Possesses the skills to network with all resources to provide the best customer service with clients or family members seeking help from BestCare
  • Ability to ensure a safe and clean working environment complying with Oregon OSHA, BestCare Treatment Services Policies and Procedures, Oregon Administrative Rules, and the RN Scope of Practice
  • Strong client engagement skills
  • High level of ability and comfort providing extensive outreach and community-based nursing care in a multitude of settings
  • Proven success in collaborating with co-workers and a multi-disciplinary team to provide and advocate for excellent patient care
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), EMS systems, databases, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and ability to learn new or updated software
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and demonstrated compassion towards individuals with mental illness and substance abuse disorders
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence as required by HIPAA, 42 CFR, and Oregon Statutes
