Founded in 1870, Schonbek is a world-renowned brand of luxury crystal and custom lighting, reflecting a respect for craftsmanship while elevating luxury design. Schonbek will continue its 150+ year heritage of crystal lighting in upstate New York while the Schonbek plant there will also produce technically-advanced luminaires for the WAC, Modern Forms, dweLED, and AiSPiRE brands in the W group. Position Overview: The Design Engineer/Project Engineer will design, develop and coordinate the manufacturing (both in-house and out-sourced) of standard and customized products which meet design and customer requirements with an efficient design to manufacture. Responsibilities:

• Design and develop customized products by evaluating design and customer requirements.
• Complete both standard product and/or project product designs as required by customer orders.
• Introduce product designs into production (either in-house or out-sourced) by completing design drawings, tooling drawings and facilitating release processes throughout the organization.
• Ensure that designs are both accurate and cost effective.
• Keep up to date on Certification requirements of product designs.
• Complete product designs that adhere to all regulatory standards for the region where the product is being sold.
• Ensure timely releases to production by adhering to established engineering/production schedules for each project.
• Support manufacturing of product through the custom/contract production area with creative technical solutions.
• Attend project meetings with internal and external partners on site or at customer locations.
• Gather and evaluate development and manufacturing capabilities of external and internal partners.
• Complete special projects as they arise.
• Execute efficient and creative designs to meet predetermined costs, deadlines, execution, quality, and safety-regulations.
• Deliver realistic design and product ideas to match project and customer requirements.
• Project Manage assigned design engineering tasks, including performing research necessary to resolve technical problems with a cross-departmental approach.

Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1 - 8 years of professional related experience.
• Manufacturing experience a plus.
• Experience with 2D and 3D Visualization programs such as CAD, Key Creator, NX, SolidWorks.
• Strong experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Candidate must be a team player with strong communication skills.
• Must possess the willingness and ability to work under pressure.
• Relocation to the Plattsburgh/NY (Adirondack Coast (goadirondack.com), Burlington/Vt area.
