Summary





The City of Water Valley is accepting applications for the position of Deputy City Clerk. This full-time position performs various administrative, clerical, and financial duties in support of the City Clerk's Office.


Minimum Qualifications




Education:




High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or a related field preferred.

Experience:




At least two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical, bookkeeping, or office administration experience required. Prior experience in municipal or county government or public administration is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office technology required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




Maintaining official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts. Assisting with preparation of Board of Aldermen agendas, minutes, and meeting notices. Preparing, maintaining, and filing public records in compliance with Mississippi state law. Assisting in the administration of municipal elections. Collecting, recording, and reconciling city revenues, including licenses, permits, utility payments, and fees. Processing accounts payable and receivable under the direction of the City Clerk. Assisting in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and audits. Responding to public inquiries and providing customer service at City Hall. Attend municipal court when required to perform clerical duties as state statute prescribes. Performing other related duties as assigned by the City Clerk to ensure efficient operation of the City Clerk's office. Attending and participating in conferences and training seminars to learn to perform the City Clerk's Office functions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and perform timely work. Ability to work with the general public with respect and courtesy.
