Position is being filled through a limited-term appointment which may last up to two years with an opportunity to be extended but with no guarantee.
The High-Speed Internet GIS and Data Analyst serves as a recognized resource tasked with high-speed internet and digital equity-related mapping coordination, data collection, data analysis and geospatial data collection. The High-Speed Internet GIS and Data Analyst?s work in this regard relates to federal funds allocated to the State for broadband and digital equity work. The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute to the plan, design, implementation, and maintenance of mapping programs and related data and applications as state resources within the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office (MIHI). This position will work closely with contractors, partners, and colleagues to coordinate broadband and digital equity related data collection activities and develop new state broadband and digital equity map layers. This position will provide technical support for the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office, other state agencies, and external stakeholders as needed. This position will work with broadband mapping staff, contractors and intern(s) to handle maintenance, updates and troubleshooting of broadband maps, dashboards, websites and data collection. This position will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets related to broadband access, affordability, and adoption in the state.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Possession of a bachelor?s degree in, but not limited to, geographic information systems, geography, urban and regional planning, geology, or a related field with an emphasis on geospatial data and analytics.

Experience
Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service. Preference would be at least three years of experience in geospatial data analysis, data research and analysis, or other relevant work experience.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year?s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents? Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
