The Dental Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient management of dental insurance processes within our practice. This position is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, managing patient records, and coordinating with insurance companies to facilitate claims processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office operations and a thorough understanding of dental insurance protocols.
Duties
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments.
Process and submit dental claims to insurance providers accurately and timely.
Maintain up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits and any outstanding balances.
Collaborate with dental staff to ensure proper coding of procedures using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems.
Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to insurance claims.
Keep abreast of changes in managed care policies and procedures that may affect claims processing.
Provide support in maintaining organized medical records and documentation.
Skills
Strong knowledge of managed care systems and processes.
Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
Proficient in CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and general medical coding practices.
Understanding of medical terminology related to dental procedures.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records.
Ability to perform insurance verification efficiently and accurately.
