Job Description


Deans of students may be required to work beyond the regular school year. Up to twelve (12) additional days will be at the discretion of the building principal. Any days above twelve (12) must be approved by the Super- intendent. Under no circumstances will the total days worked beyond the regular school year exceed seventeen (17). The rate of pay for these additional days shall be the employee\'s per diem rate of pay.

Salary: Commensurate with the Brandywine School District\xe2\x80\x99s plus stipend

Job Goal: To assist in the creation of a safe and orderly school environment conducive to learning, to build positive home-school relations; to assist in creating, supporting and enforcing expectations in the areas of student attendance, discipline and learning.
Job Qualifications: * Possess an educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware.

  • Must have 3 years of successful experience in an education related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Essential Functions: * Supervises and monitors students, conducts and handles routine disciplinary matters, keeping records of disciplinary referrals and administrative actions.
  • Serves as resource and support to staff, parents, and students on all matters related to school climate.
  • Helps to establish and implement safety and security procedures in the building, including fire and crisis drills.
  • Assists Building Administration in the organization of instructional/behavioral programs.
  • Helps in supervising student activities including but not limited to: transportation, lunchroom, and all other student related activities which include before and after school.
  • Assist in empowering teachers to assume responsibility for classroom management and student discipline.
  • Supervises the reporting, monitoring and follow up of student attendance matters.
  • Works to develop positive public relations and customer service relationships including consistent and open communications between the district, school, students, parents and the overall community.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must be available for summer work; may be required to work a minimum of (10) additional days in the summer which will be at the discretion of the building Principal.
  • Assumes other duties assigned by the administration in order to facilitate a safe, orderly, positive learning environment for staff and students.
