As a Data Scientist supporting the Credit Risk team, you will develop, execute, and monitor credit policies and procedures that minimize credit risk while ensuring a smooth customer experience. You will analyze credit data to identify trends and risks, make recommendations for credit policy changes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new credit products, services, and processes. You will assess and advise on credit and model governance frameworks, and develop best practices. You will support ongoing model risk management activities and implementation of credit risk management frameworks.

You can sit in any Block office in the US or be remote from any US state with the exception of Alaska.

You Will:

  • Develop, execute, and monitor credit policies and procedures that mitigate credit risk while ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor credit performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of credit policies and procedures. Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science teams, finance, capital market, legal and compliance, and engineers, to develop and implement new credit policy, services and procedures.
  • Assess and advise on credit/model governance frameworks, and implement best practices
  • Provide analytical support and insights to improve model development, validation, and documentation standards
  • Maintain model documentation in accordance with internal policies and standards
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, developments and best practices in machine learning and credit risk management
Qualifications

\xe2\x80\x8bYou Have:
  • A master\'s degree in mathematics, economics, operations research, management science, finance, or a related A master\'s degree in mathematics, economics, operations research, management science, finance, or a related quantitative field is required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, credit risk management, model risk management or a related field is required..
  • Experience with credit analysis principles, including credit risk assessment, credit scoring models, credit policy formulation and implementation.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, ability to evaluate credit risk using various credit scoring models, and make sound credit decisions. Ability to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in data.
  • Familiar with small business lending products like Credit Card, Term Loan, and Line of Credit.
  • Experience communicating (written and verbal) credit policies, procedures, and findings to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools, such as SQL, Python, Snowflake, or Databricks
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in validating machine learning models
  • Prior experience in credit risk or model risk management at a regulated financial institution
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as SR 11-7
  • FRM/CFA certification

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate\'s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $144,500 - USD $176,700
Zone C: USD $136,900 - USD $167,300
Zone D: USD $129,300 - USD $158,100
