Position Overview

The Data Center Strategy Consultant will primarily act as a project resource for post-sales delivery on customer engagements. This is a resource who has demonstrable experience with consulting service delivery, alignment of business objectives and technology investments, and who is familiar with the latest data center market trends The Data Center Strategy Consultant is a subject matter expert in data center portfolio optimization and design for medium and large enterprise organizations and must be able to develop actionable strategies in partnership with real estate, facility and technology stakeholders among a demanding global client base.

Data Center (Design, Build, Migration & Optimization) represents a significant portion of the support Align is providing clients and therefore the selected candidate must have been involved (or led) similar type engagements or projects, interacting with senior leadership teams around data center portfolio concerns The ideal candidate will have the ability to evaluate all data center portfolio options for clients (buy vs build vs lease, cloud), incorporating and ranking (balanced scorecard) considerations of risk, flexibility, security and cost issues to develop cost-effective, redundant, scalable and maintainable data center solutions for our clients. Candidate must be able to autonomously develop enterprise class deliverables, articulating strategy options backed by strong financial and technical analysis.

• The Data Center Strategy Consultant will be a hybrid position based out of any of our nearby office locations, but Dallas, Ashburn, VA or New York City would be preferred.. You will primarily work from home, but will be required to travel for client projects as needed.
• This is a full-time position offering a competitive compensation package consisting of a base salary, benefits, training, paid vacation and participation in a bonus plan

Responsibilities

• Lead Data Center Advisory, Strategy, Rationalization, and Selection consulting engagements for our clients
• Help to contribute as a billable consultant, a pre-sales resource, and a thought leader within the firm around Data Center Strategy and Advisory solutions
• Work with sales team to identify opportunities to new clients as well as position other Align services within existing accounts to sell additional opportunities
• Deliver on large-scale programs of work to build client relationships as a trusted advisor
• Support development of the Data Center Advisory Services growth plan
• Contribute to thought leadership in the form of whitepapers, articles and conference participation
• Support development of channel partner relationships leading to Align implementation engagements
• Be willing to travel as needed and work on projects throughout the US as required

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience within management consulting or professional services is preferred
• Strong background in Data Center Advisory and Strategy consulting including Data Center topology design, facility selection and portfolio rationalization
• Experience leading data center evaluation and selections programs
• Strong professional network in the Data Center industry including Colocation and REITs
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Data Center/Infrastructure Consolidation, Optimization and Relocation
• Demonstrated experience with Business Case Development, Cost Modeling, ROI Analysis
• Demonstrated ability to write report segments and to contribute to white papers and articles
• Experience providing consulting services related to IT Strategy, IT Architecture, Infrastructure Management, Data Center Facilities Design and Management, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, Server, would be a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of IT Program Management
• Professional and effective communication skills, (written and verbal), including Executive-level presentation and public speaking experience
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite as well as Visio and Project
• Creative problem solver
• Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment
• ITIL, RCDD, PMI, CISSP, CBCP, or MBCP related certifications are a plus.
