Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team at Clay Elementary School as a Custodian. This full-time position is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and possess a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school.



Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. Maintain and restock cleaning supplies and materials as needed. Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities. Ensure that all cleaning equipment is used safely and maintained in good working condition. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Monitor and maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds and parking lots, to ensure cleanliness and safety. Collaborate with staff and administration to meet the cleaning and maintenance needs of the school. Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on cleaning procedures and safety practices.


Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus but not required. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, with a commitment to safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
