Position Summary:

The Custodial Maintenance position at Dakota Wesleyan University is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of campus buildings and grounds. This includes performing a variety of cleaning tasks, ensuring that facilities meet sanitation standards, and addressing maintenance issues as needed. The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, classrooms, and office spaces on a daily basis Dust furniture, sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, and empty trash receptacles Perform deep cleaning tasks as needed, such as shampooing carpets or waxing floors Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor Assist with setting up and breaking down for events and activities on campus Work collaboratively with other custodial staff to prioritize tasks and ensure that all areas are cleaned thoroughly Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience in custodial or maintenance work is preferred Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach overhead Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions Some events require evenings or weekend hours Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and safety procedures Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
