The

Credit and Mortgage Analyst

position will be responsible for supporting the bank's commercial, agricultural, and residential credit teams. The successful candidate will be proficient in both disciplines, performing detailed credit analysis for commercial and agricultural loans, while also conducting thorough underwriting of residential mortgage applications. Key responsibilities include preparing annual loan reviews, analyzing borrower information, and ensuring all loans are underwritten in strict accordance with bank, agency, and investor guidelines. This role requires the ability to seamlessly transition between both functions to meet dynamic departmental needs.

Credit Analysis

Complete accurate and consistent financial statement spreads, trend analyses, covenant tests, stress tests, and collateral reviews in line with credit policies. Support portfolio management by tracking approval requirements, monitoring loans, and preparing reports. Conduct collateral appraisals on loans under $250K, assess gathered information, and communicate follow-up questions to lenders. Execute accurate loan setup in systems and maintain ongoing records. Perform annual loan reviews and maintain credit files to meet audit standards.

Mortgage Underwriting

Review and analyze residential loan applications, credit reports, and financial data to determine underwriting risk. Calculate income and debt ratios, ensuring compliance with investor, agency, and bank guidelines. Document underwriting decisions and maintain accurate records in the LOS system. Support mortgage staff by sharing updates on regulatory or investor changes and assisting with quality control reviews and audits. Provide guidance to lenders and operations staff to improve file quality. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (Associate's degree acceptable with equivalent experience). 1-3 years of experience in credit analysis, mortgage underwriting, or banking. Proficiency in analyzing financial statements and collateral. Knowledge of mortgage underwriting standards (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/USDA) Understanding of credit risk principles and loan structures. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, shifting between credit and underwriting as needed. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Clear written and verbal communication of credit and underwriting recommendations. Ability to work collaboratively with lenders, mortgage staff, and management. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and loan processing/analysis software. High level of integrity and confidentiality.
