JOB SUMMARY

The Counselor II develops and maintains an outpatient caseload within their clinical scope of practice. In addition to this work at the Behavioral Health Clinic, they may provide mental health consultation and support services to Cedar Mountain Center, Acute Care and Emergency Department.


The Counselor II staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Counselor II must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the Clinic's policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must have a minimum of a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Counseling, Social Work, Therapy, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or equivalent. Must have a current Wyoming licensure as an LAT, LPC, LCSW or LMFT. Provisionally licensed candidates will be considered, and a CRH licensed therapist will provide supervision for provisionally licensed therapist. If not licensed as LAT, must demonstrate competence with Substance Use Disorder population.

EXPERIENCE

Background in general mental health services and addictions counseling. Two years of experience preferred.

SKILLS

Ability to do: 1) problem assessment, 2) mental status evaluation, 3) psychosocial history interview, 4) diagnosis based on current DSM-V criteria, 5) treatment planning, 6) treatment evaluation, 7) ASAM/ASI evaluations. Training and experience with DBT, CBT, and/or evidence based trauma approaches desired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), individual and group mental health/substance use therapy in coordination with the MAT/IOP treatment team. Develop and maintain an outpatient caseload at the Behavioral Health Clinic (provide and average of 95 hours of billable service per month (1,144 hours per year)) and provide appropriate therapy/referrals. Complete Intake Assessments with new clients. Design appropriate treatment plans based on assessment for individual, SUD/MH group therapy. May also include couple/family therapy. Deliver a variety of therapeutic modalities including supportive and cognitive interventions, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy (as needed). Develop and maintain Medicaid adolescent outpatient services with DSM-V diagnosis. Assist in program development for the Behavioral Health Clinic. Provide mental health services for physician referrals. Maintain regular and timely communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure proper and timely care. Maintain thorough and up to date progress notes on all patients assigned. Maintain all CARF standards that apply to the Behavioral Health Clinic. Formalize and complete aftercare plan to assure ongoing patient recovery on all patients assigned regardless of length of treatment and/or completion of treatment. Formalize and complete discharge summary for each patient assigned. Conduct community education sessions and lectures as assigned. Serve as group therapist as assigned. Conduct regular individual therapy sessions as scheduled on all patients assigned. Complete assessments and evaluations on individuals referred through court, schools, attorney, etc., and provide written reports for the referent. Be familiar with and comply with all federal and state regulations regarding confidentiality and reporting instances of abuse. Ensure patient care is delivered in a safe and effective manner in compliance with state, and federal requirements. Coordinate with all staff and aftercare referral agencies to ensure smooth and effective discharge of all patients assigned.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Assist in prevention programs as assigned. Serve on designated committees as required. Attend team meetings and other meetings as requested. May be responsible to perform other duties and responsibilities for which the individual is qualified. * Coordinate services/discharge planning with Cody Regional Health's Cedar Mountain Center residential SUD program.
