Corrections Counselor II The Corrections Counselor provides a variety of counseling for the client population which includes vocational counseling and/or guidance for clients on work release. The Counselor is responsible for acting as a liaison by working with family members, teachers, medical professionals and parole officers and anyone else related to the case. These programs typically include a firm set of rules to govern the child\'s behavior, as well as a series of well-established goals and objectives to help the client. The Counselor will assess problems or needs to be addressed; review and discuss progress towards goals; address identified treatment or therapeutic goals and assess progress. In addition, each client will be assessed of their danger of harm to self or others and provided intervention services as needed. The Counselor must be prepared to deal with extreme situations that can involve dangerously criminal behavior, drug and alcohol abuse and sexual abuse. Corrections Counselor II Responsibilities:
  • Conduct both individual and group corrections counseling II sessions
  • Engage in crisis intervention
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and other written documentation.
  • Document resident plans, progress, and problems.
  • Document programs, activities, participation, etc.
  • Prepare reports as needed for court proceedings, treatment planning, etc.
  • Participate in program development as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and training as assigned.
  • Provide leadership in developing therapeutic programs and interventions.
  • Assist security officers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
CORRECTIONS COUNSELOR II MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Associate degree with 2 years directly related work experience
CORRECTIONS COUNSELOR II CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE / TRAINING
  • Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Certified Addictions Counselor preferred.
  • Valid drivers license
