Overview As a Communications Manager, you will be responsible for keeping the employees and the management team in Summit Materials informed on issues that affect employees, as well as communicate Summit s value proposition to the broader public. You will play a key role in the business because you will be engaging employees and external stakeholders and helping to motivate them to do their best for the company. You will be working with people at every level from front-line to the c-suite, keeping them informed of news and developments in the company. We are looking for a dynamic storyteller that can bring our Vision, Mission & Values to life while we ELEVATE the employee experience at Summit Materials. You will make a difference by elevating awareness, facilitating buy-in and engagement. Roles & Responsibilities
  • Deliver a continuous feedback loop with Summit s teams, internal stakeholders through communications channels that helps to foster teamwork, efficiency & engagement
  • Prepare C-suite leaders for industry and media events and interviews through development of a consistent communications approach reflecting their tone and approach
  • Manage internal communications at the org-wide level (Town Halls, memos, newsletters, technology platforms, intranet)
  • Assist in development of press releases and external communications plans related to commercial activities, with oversight from corporate development and investor relations
  • Provide review and guidance for external social media vendors
  • Partner with leadership and functional areas to ensure cohesive and timely messages are delivered to targeted audiences.
  • Become an expert on our communications needs within the businesses \xe2\x80\x93 what questions do our people REALLY have? Build authentic and empathetic messaging that brings our culture alive.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or other relevant degree.
  • Proven experience optimizing communication channels either through deductive reasoning, conflict resolution, troubleshooting or technology.
  • Importance placed on your overall experiences and what you have learned to become a more effective and thoughtful communicator.
  • Excellent writing & presentations skills.
  • Experience in copywriting & editing.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and can effectively manage through a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
  • Proven ability to create robust and thoughtful communications plans that meet the targeted audience where they are at.
  • Confidence with your creativity! You have many examples of trying new & different ideas and strategies to make an impact as a communicator.
  • Prefer experiences working with large employee populations that are un-wired and work in an operations or manufacturing environment.
  • Prefer experiences that have partnered strongly with Safety-focused organizations and have played a key role in strengthening the Safety culture.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset.
Compensation Range: $80,000 $ 130,000 with potential Short Term Incentive Plan opportunity
