Job Description
Support the Materials Engineering- Chemistry needs across the different industry segments of Meritor. Optimize the materials and processes used in Meritor components. This position reports to the Manager of Analytical Chemistry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide chemistry services under the guidance of the experienced materials chemistry staff
- Perform materials characterization for the purpose of failure resolution and product improvement
- Review PPAP packages, parts and reports for compliance to Meritor specifications
- Manage assigned individual workflow/cycle time for assigned tasks
- Develop technical expertise in products and manufacturing processes
- Communicate with suppliers and customers as needed \xe2\x80\x93 maintaining good working relationships
- Operation and maintenance of various laboratory instruments including: GC-MS, EDXRF, FT-IR, TGA, DSC, Intron, and corrosion chambers.
- Support project needs of chemistry team
- Basic interpretation of collected data
- Collate data in the form of laboratory reports, Excel and PowerPoint presentations
- Final report and presentation on all project assignments during internship
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a degree in Chemistry is required
- Must have good organization and communication skills
- Demonstrate a passion for learning the chemistry of products: elastomers, paints, rust preventatives, oils, and greases.
