Job Summary
:
The Project Estimator/Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating project schedules, and supporting the project management team from pre-construction through closeout. This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to Maze Homes' quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
:
Review architectural plans, engineering drawings, and project specifications to develop comprehensive cost estimates
Break down projects into phases and create detailed line-item budgets for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work
Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to clarify project scope, resolve discrepancies, and identify value-engineering opportunities
Prepare and present bid proposals to management and clients, clearly outlining assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions
Track project milestones and deadlines using BuilderTrend, updating schedules and budgets as projects progress
Assist with permitting processes by coordinating required documentation and following up with local authorities
Monitor and document change orders, analyzing cost and schedule impacts, and communicating adjustments to all stakeholders
Support procurement by tracking material orders, confirming deliveries, and resolving discrepancies with suppliers
Maintain organized digital and physical files for all project documentation, including estimates, contracts, change orders, and correspondence
Prepare regular project status reports for leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
Communicate professionally and proactively with clients, internal teams, and external partners to ensure alignment and satisfaction
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings across estimating and coordination functions
Required Qualifications
:
Experience in construction estimating, project coordination, or related field
Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail
Proficiency with project management and estimating software
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and local building codes
Preferred Qualifications
:
Experience in both residential and commercial construction projects.
Experience with BuilderTrend Software
