Job Description
Overview:
SUMMARY: The Constriction Assistant builds and performs a variety of physical labor duties on construction projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
- To assist in the layout of foundation, building lines and anchor bolts.
- Assist with elevations and grades.
- Assist carpenter in all formwork related functions.
- Wood Framing.
- Assist setting hollow metal doors and frames.
- Hang wood doors and install hardware.
- Install millwork trim and cabinets.
- Install toilet accessories.
- Concrete placement of minor slabs, sidewalks, etc. Assist with slabs and elevated structures.
- To Receive materials and off load in a safe and proficient fashion.
- Prepare to perform job related assignments at designated start time.
- Continually work to improve skills and complete tasks in an expedient manner for future advancement.
- To perform daily tasks in a safe manner in accordance with company policies.
- Responsible to acquire tools needed to perform carpentry tasks during the course of your assignment.
- Ability to work extended workdays to support business needs.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
QUALIFICATIONS: Construction Assistants must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical manuals and schematics. Responds to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers and/or regulatory agencies. Effectively communicates pertinent information to center management. Applies principles of logical thinking to a wide range of practical problems. Deals with nonverbal schematics (formulas, schematics, graphs, etc.) and a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent with algebra, geometry and/or applied mathematics and 3+ years of related experience. Relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment where you will walk, bend and stand for periods of time.
