Red River Pharmacy is looking to hire a full-time compounding pharmacy technician.
The Compounding Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in compounding, preparing, and dispensing specialized medications. This role requires strict adherence to sterile and non-sterile compounding guidelines, accurate record-keeping, and close attention to detail to ensure patient safety and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare compounded medications (both sterile and non-sterile), including creams, ointments, capsules, syrups, and intravenous solutions according to prescriptions and established protocols.
Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients accurately, following formulas and standard operating procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized compounding area; ensure all equipment and tools are properly sanitized before and after use.
Label compounded medications with detailed instructions, expiration dates, and patient information.
Assist in maintaining inventory by regularly checking and restocking compounding supplies and chemicals, and alerting pharmacists to shortages.
Document all compounding procedures, lot numbers, quantities, and expiration dates in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
Operate specialized pharmacy equipment such as balances, mixers, ointment mills, and capsule machines.
Follow USP , , and guidelines (where applicable), as well as all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
Work closely with pharmacists to clarify prescriptions and resolve any compounding-related questions or issues.
Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and safety programs.
Dispose of hazardous materials according to established safety protocols.
Support and train new staff as directed.
Always maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) is required from the Texas State board of Pharmacy.
Previous experience in compound a plus, bit not required.
Knowledge of compounding techniques, pharmacy law, and safety standards.
Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks.
