GENERAL-PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Coconut Creek Internship Program is to strengthen relationships between educators and the City of Coconut Creek while assisting students in applying classroom theory in a work environment. Interns will be able to visit and work within all areas of service that the department offers.

Work is performed under the close supervision of the Department Director, and Marketing Specialist.

Cellphone Stipend of $75/month will be available

Copy of current transcript MUST be included with the application in order to verify class standing.

SCHEDULE:
Must be available to work morning/afternoon/evenings (Monday -Friday), Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and special events. Days/hours are subject to change. Major scheduling emphasis will be placed on the area that most closely parallels the professional goals of the student.

Note: Preference in hiring interns shall be given to Coconut Creek residents and Coconut Creek employees\' immediate family members who meet the above requirements.

Internship Length - Internships are typically filled by the semester. Any duration beyond six months requires the department intern liaison to obtain approval from the HR Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marketing Intern will support the Community Relations Division by coordinating social media and marketing efforts and content creation for Parks and Recreation programs and events. Under the supervision of the Marketing Specialist, you will assist with researching marketing trends, social media outreach and perform some administrative work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with social media scheduling and publishing
  • Draft social media captions for program campaigns
  • Take photos at events, classes, and programs for social media
  • Conduct in-person surveys at programs, classes, and events
  • Assist with management of recreation program digital surveys
  • Develop content for the website and social media platforms
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Intern Applicant Requirements- * Eligible to work in the United States
  • Enrolled as a degree-seeking student by an accredited local college or technical school carrying at least a half-time academic course load
  • May be required to have a valid driver\'s license (depending on department/duties)
  • Must maintain an active status as a student throughout the internship
  • Must have an overall GPA of at least 2.5 (transcript)
  • Must be in good academic standing (transcript)
  • Must attach unofficial transcript from last semester to be included with the online application
  • Must submit a resume and cover letter to be included with the online application
Minimum Requirements for Community Relations Intern
  • Prior experience using social media platforms
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Solid grammar, editing, and proofreading capabilities
  • Video editing experience is preferred
  • Comfortable presenting in front of camera
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Graphic design experience is a plus
Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on the functional area of the assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 80 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or the use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and extended periods of time standing and/or walking.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery, and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils, and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
