The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division.

This position assists consumers all over Montana by providing specialized telecommunications equipment and relay services to qualified individuals with hearing, mobility, and/or speech disabilities. This position delivers equipment, trains, educates, and follows-up with the client to ensure the equipment is working properly. Responsibilities include managing and presenting the statewide telecommunications equipment training and distribution program and Montana Relay Service training; providing support to the MTAC Director with program planning, coordination, and operations; assisting with the development of policies and procedures; interviewing clients; managing inventory control, preparing reports, and other program duties. This position reports to the MTAC Director and does not supervise.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

Knowledge and understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and special needs of people who are deaf, hard of hearing, speech disabled, mobility disabled, or deaf/blind, and the ability to function in the workplace and in their environment. Knowledge of theories and best practices in adult learning and the use of techniques and methods for ensuring the transfer of training. Knowledge and the ability to communicate via American Sign Language or another signed mode and communicate information and ideas when speaking and writing so others will understand. Knowledge, Skill, or Ability to successfully work with technology and train on a variety of telephone equipment including landline, iOS and Android devices. Good organizational and time management skills. Meet minimum qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ One year of job-related college or vocational training in human services, communications, gerontology, or similar field.
+ Two years of job-related work experience such as working with the elderly, people with disabilities, or in the telecommunications industry.
+ Ability to communicate via American Sign Language is preferred. (If successful candidate does not possess sign language skills, he/she will be expected to learn sign language on the job.)
+ Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

Training Assignment

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Salary: $

25.55 - 25.55 Hourly
