What You\'ll Do

Your primary goal in this position will be to promote two cross-campus programs, the Exercise & Sport Science Initiative (ESSI) and the University of Michigan Concussion Center (UMCC), through strategic marketing, communications, and collaboration with campus, state, national, and international organizations. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications in the U-M School of Kinesiology, you\'ll perform responsibilities including the below.   • Initiate and positively influence the perceptions and narratives about ESSI and UMCC
  • Develop strategic marketing and communications roadmaps using shared project management tools
  • Pitch story ideas to and collaborate with marketing and communications professionals across campus
Creative (Writing and Design)
  • Translate research findings from and write impact stories about faculty, staff, students, and alums
  • Write content for newsletters, emails, and more
  • Design marketing collateral for development efforts, events, academic courses, and more
  • Create content for and maintain both centers\xe2\x80\x99 websites
Social Media
  • Direct social media strategies (Twitter, LinkedIn) and develop content
Other
  • Use data analytics to improve marketing campaigns
  • Hire, train, oversee, and evaluate student interns

Required Qualifications*

  • A bachelor\'s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or other related field
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • Experience using email platforms (Constant Contact), website systems (WordPress, Drupal), graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva)

Additional Information

This is an initial one-year, term-limited position with the potential to extend based on successful performance and funding. An offer may be extended outside the general salary range shared in this posting based on equity, experience, knowledge, and skills for this role. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor understanding and transparency throughout the recruiting process. This is an onsite position (with potential for a hybrid/remote option up to 2 days/week).
