Job Description


Position Available: Communications Coordinator The position is part time and requires an estimated 8-10 hours/week. : The Communications Coordinator for St. Luke serves to output information to the congregation and to the community surrounding this church. They collect, organize, and distribute information and news so that activities and events may be scheduled and publicized in an efficient, orderly manner. This is accomplished through two broad activities:

  • Gathering and receiving news and information from appropriate sources and disseminating it within the congregation.
  • Collecting news about the congregation and distributing it to various media outside the congregation.

General Responsibilities:
  • Continue to grow in awareness and knowledge of St. Luke mission and services.
  • Develop, guide, and implement the strategy for all communication media including social media, the website, any church used applications, publications, signage, marketing media, and advertising
  • Ensure current and relevant use of social media, seeking and coordinating new opportunities and platforms for social media postings
  • Consult with St. Luke leadership for web page updates, blogs, or public announcements for both internal and external promulgation.
  • Oversee general website content and maintenance, performing frequent reviews of all communications platforms, updating information/broken links/etc. and, when necessary, oversee the construction of the new site.
  • Other duties, as directed by the Lead Pastor, that are directly related to internal and external communication.

Requirements:
  • Possess an Associate Degree in Communications or related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of St. Luke and of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
  • Computer literate, specifically with Microsoft Office programs, and experience in websites, social media, desktop publishing, and technology.
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent administrative support skills.
  • Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and language usage.
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and multi-task.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and be a team builder who is willing to and able to shepherd volunteers
  • Ability to use discretion and make sound judgments.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
