Position Overview: Motiva is seeking a Communications Business Partner in our Houston office! This role focuses on identifying areas where Communications can drive value by partnering with the business. This position oversees the execution of the overall communications strategy to support a business line\xe2\x80\x99s strategic priorities, drive growth, and build the corporate brand. Our ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who works at both strategic and tactical levels to manage, create, and edit content that addresses the business\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9cbig-picture\xe2\x80\x9d needs across multiple platforms and channels.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, results-oriented, problem-solver who enjoys delivering as part of a team and as an individual contributor. We juggle a variety of responsibilities in the organization and managing multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced environment is critical to our success, so strong writing skills are a must. Candidates must provide three writing samples with their resume.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategic communications plans to advance Motiva\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives and crafts compelling narratives about the company\xe2\x80\x99s strategies, mission, and values for both internal and external audiences.
  • Builds a deep understanding of business line\xe2\x80\x99s objectives in order to tie communications activities directly to desired business outcomes
  • Ensures communication strategies encompass the entire lifecycle of communications \xe2\x80\x93 from inception to delivery in all communication channels.
  • Identifies areas of misalignment between Communications and business partners and areas where communications can/should increase their support
  • Delivers high-quality, high-value communications materials and tactics aligned with business objectives
  • Actively contributes to editorial planning, suggesting content ideas and appropriate project timelines
  • Monitors and analyzes communication activities, anticipating future trends and improvement opportunities


Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 8-10 years of experience in developing, managing, and executing strategic communications in support of business/function objectives
  • Excellent writing skills. Must be able to draft and edit content quickly. Must be able to clearly present ideas across various channels including written (press releases, bylined articles, ad copy, and collateral), presentations, social platforms, and video.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, proactive, detail and deadline-driven, with the ability to handle multiple priorities while providing a high level of service to internal and external clients.
  • Experience with content management systems and tools
  • Proven track record for delivering results and managing change in a complex environment
  • Strong project management experience is required
  • Ability to drive strategy and results through relationships and influence
  • Strong analytical, process, interpersonal and communication skills
