What you\'ll do

As the Commodity Manager within our Utilimaster division based in Bristol, IN, you will be instrumental for driving value-creating sourcing decisions by identifying, developing, and implementing supplier and product value stream improvement initiatives.

You will accomplish this through the effective use of the strategic sourcing process, cost targeting, supplier performance management, supplier development, and value engineering processes.

You will also be expected to support the business objectives related to quality, technology, and cost of current products as well as support the business needs for innovative new product launches, while also mitigating supply chain risks.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Leading negotiations with suppliers and executing supplier agreements ranging between $1M-$20M
  • Partnering cross-functionally to understand and monitor Utilimaster\'s needs to best serve our customers and maintain a competitive edge in the market
  • Creating and implementing sourcing strategies that includes managing and driving supplier performance in the areas of quality, cost, capacity, delivery, and overall value
  • Rationalizing and segmenting strategies for suppliers, categories, and parts
Overseeing efforts for examining new suppliers and ensuring potential suppliers will be able to meet Utilimaster\'s performance requirements * Utilizing your program management skills to facilitate timely implementation of sourcing items
  • Developing working relationships with both internal stakeholders and suppliers
Navigating and facilitating solutions when supplier issues occur * Ensuring suppliers conforming to our companies\' terms and conditions
  • Maintaining a high level of supplier performance adding value
  • Creating total cost of ownership and making vs. buy analyses
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Conducting strategic sourcing activities aligned with Supply Chain Management
  • Gathering and examining data for specific categories or suppliers
  • Identifying and implementing value-adding activities such as cost reductions, innovation, and risk management within the supply chain
  • Managing relationships with assigned suppliers and successfully aligning suppliers\' operating plans to achieve company objectives
  • Staying abreast of current industry and global market trends, and the ability to leverage this information to benefit Utilimaster
  • Creating sourcing strategies that can be articulated to senior leadership
  • This role will be hybrid

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Materials Management, Finance, Engineering, or Operations
  • 5+ years of expertise in a professional procurement role with exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and commodities
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of business operations, including finance, accounting, legal, materials management, engineering, quality, and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to perform cost analysis and proven negotiation skills
  • A reputation for partnering with cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in supplier management and in maintaining fruitful supplier relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel occasionally up to 20%
