Estimator is responsible for reviewing bid requests and working with commercial project management team to select and prioritize best bid opportunities to pursue. Estimator to put together all bidding documents, contact vendors for equipment quotes and evaluate quotes as received, communicate duct and piping takeoff needs to in-house takeoff personnel, create comprehensive estimate form, present completed estimates to commercial project management team, and assist in bid value determination.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints and complex mechanical systems for commercial buildings
Bring an understanding of mechanical systems and the installation process to bid estimate effort
Consistently communicate with takeoff personnel to establish priorities and bidding timeframes
Manage equipment quote requests and receipts
Manage and communicate changes to bidding documents during bidding process
Organize all bid documents on network
Communicate directly with clients for any questions that arise during bidding process and ensure information is distributed to all affected parties
Field questions and concerns from clients regarding bid documents
Attend pre-bid walk through meeting to evaluate existing conditions and meet with clients
Offer value engineering opportunities based on industry knowledge and prior experience
Upon project procurement, turn over bid package to Project Manager and download the PM on any relevant information that he/she will need to move forward
Offer design/build capability to clients, either direct through building owners or through general contractors
Track and follow-up on opportunities after bidding
Issue RFI's to Design Team During Bidding Process
Identify Poor or Flawed Designs During the Bidding Process
Identify and prioritize goals, daily tasks, and schedule
Bidding projects at appropriate margins/hours
Qualifications
:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical program
Prior Estimating Experience
Experience with Estimating Software and Excel, Word, Outlook
Strong Time Management Skills and Organization in a multi-tasking and fast paced environment.
Ability to adjust to frequent changing priorities
Very Strong Communication Skills both internally with co-workers and externally to clients.
High Attention to Accuracy and Consistency

Pay: $60,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
