The Clinical Manager is a versatile and highly skilled professional responsible for supporting all clinical, imaging, and administrative/billing functions within an interventional pain management practice. This role plays a vital part in ensuring seamless patient care--from initial intake to procedure preparation, and office management. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing hands-on clinical work with leadership and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support & Patient Care (Medical Assistant Duties)
Prepare patients for interventional pain procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulator trials).
Record patient medical histories, vitals, pain scores, and medication updates.
Assist the physician by operating the ultrasound or the c-arm as directed for fluoroscopy-guided procedures.
Maintaining sterile technique, handling instruments, and ensuring patient safety.
Educate patients on pre-procedure and post-procedure care, medication instructions, and pain management plans.
Monitor and document patient condition during recovery; ensure safe discharge.
Maintain inventory of sterile supplies, injectables, and procedure kits.
Administrative & Office Management
Handle the day-to-day office operations including referrals, phones, and orders.
Ensure efficient patient flow and excellent customer service.
Manage appointment scheduling for consultations, imaging, and procedures.
Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and assist with medical billing.
Ensure accurate and timely entry of clinical notes, procedure documentation, and imaging reports into the EHR.
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and outside facilities for equipment maintenance and referrals.
Support practice growth through patient satisfaction initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.
Radiologic Technology & Imaging
Perform diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging in support of pain management procedures.
Position patients accurately to obtain optimal images while minimizing radiation exposure.
Maintain and operate C-arm fluoroscopy equipment according to safety and quality standards.
Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and documentation of imaging equipment.
Work closely with physicians to assist with image-guided injections and review image quality for procedural accuracy.
Qualifications
Education:
4-year college degree required
Licensure/Certification:
Current ARRT certification and applicable state radiologic technologist license preferred
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
BLS/CPR certification
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years in an interventional pain management, orthopedic, or spine practice preferred.
Experience with fluoroscopy and sterile field procedures is strongly desired.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent patient communication and compassionate bedside manner.
Proficient in EHR, practice management, and medical billing systems.
Ability to lead, multitask, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning during procedures.
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and operate imaging equipment.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for radiologic and clinical tasks.
