QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High level of English proficiency for completing tasks, telephone communication, and preparation of written correspondence including skills in spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Bilingual (English and Spanish) skills, required
Ability to use Microsoft Excel and ability to operate standard office equipment including copy machine, printer, and fax
Ability to work with detail and with a high degree of accuracy
Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to set priorities and make decisions
Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
Experience:
Experience with student data, preferred
Two (2) years' experience in data processing, preferred

Note:
Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Utilize the in-house data management system to enter data and/or retrieve student/campus/district reports.
Maintain the daily operation of the Special Education initial referral Data System including, but not limited to, data entry.
Assist in reviewing and analyzing PEIMS (student/campus/district data) Reports to insure accuracy and efficiency.
Organize and maintain required audit folders for active and inactive special education students. Monitor accuracy and completeness of students' eligibility folders.
Work cooperatively with campus staff to maintain accurate student data and provide guidance and assistance in regards to at-risk and economically disadvantaged student identification process.
Work cooperatively with Director to generate written correspondence to retrieve Initial referral Student Lists from Campuses .* Perform general office routines such as, but not limited to, typing reports, forms, correspondence; maintaining files; screening telephone calls and processing mail.
Generate computer reports as required by the Director for special education.
Generate Initial Referral Reports and verify PEIMS coding for students qualifying for service and to assure that documentation is maintained by working collaboratively with campuses and SPED PEIMS clerk.
Enter and revise into Data Management System, annually for all initial referrals paperwork.
Prepare all social security paperwork as requested by campuses and parents.
Prepare all documentation for records request, Due process Hearings, TEA complaints.
Keep the immediate supervisor informed regarding the status on all projects/services undertaken and of directives or requests received internally or externally.
Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
