The classroom assistant is responsible for ensuring that the childcare program consistently meets high standards of care, safety, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves regular assessment of classroom environment exterior and interior, teacher performance, and program policies, as well as supporting continuous improvement efforts to enhance the overall quality of the childcare program. Solid Foundation is play-based. This role includes daily problem-solving, flexibility, and confidence communicating with children, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Engaging with the students in a play-based setting.
Planning, preparing and serving meals to students. Breakfast, lunch, snack.
Basic Maintenance / Reporting (painting, changing light bulbs, cleaning interior and exterior, changing ventilation grills,lawn maintenance etc.)
Daily inspection of the property (interior and exterior)
Deep cleaning of the classroom. The 1st Friday of each month.
Daily cleaning of the classroom, including toys, floor, and regularly touched areas.
Stock towels, soap, and cleaning products.
Inspect security alarms monthly. Charging devices and making sure they are in working order.
Be curious and investigate potential hazards and prevent property damage.
Health and Safety Monitoring:
Conduct monthly inspections and audits of childcare facilities.(Fire Safety Drills & Natural Disasters)
Assist with daily walks to the park. Clean the playground before the students arrive and make sure there are no visible threats to safety or open play.
Weather Safety. (fall prevention, air conditioning function, heater inspection, powerlines etc.)
Sanitation and Cleaning Outside the property. (remove dog droppings, leaves, trash and debris, etc.)
Keep all refrigerators clean and in working order. Deep Clean Every 2-weeks on Garbage Day.
Ensure all toys and equipment are in working order. Investigate leaks, sounds, sharp surfaces and cracks.
Prevention of insects and rodents.
General cleaning of the program. Preventing falls and safety hazards.
Recommend professional repairs. By building working relationships with general contractors, schedule and manage the budget for repairs.
Stock the first aid kits - check monthly
Fire Hydrant is up to date and checked monthly
Program Evaluation and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.(Chemicals, Safety Gates)
Ensure Labor Law Compliance - Assist and Manage Classroom Breaks
Develop and implement quality improvement plans.
Provide training and support to staff on best practices preparing food.
Basic Maintenance (painting, changing light bulbs, cleaning garbage, changing ventilation grills, etc.)
Serve as a second staff member when needed to keep the program in compliance.
Update policy and procedures to enhance program quality.

Excellent Communication and Instructional Skills.
Ability to lift 30+ Pounds.
Mobility Ability (bend, dance, standing for long periods of time, etc)
Able to handle bodily fluids in a timely manner.
Self-Motivated.
Knowledge of Certified Family Care Guidelines
Ability to give a detailed report verbally and in writing
Education Requirements
(Must be completed with-in the first 2 weeks of being hired.)
