Job Description


CIVIL/HIGHWAY ENGINEER
Salary Range: $128,000-$192,000

STV currently has an opening in our New York, NY or Newark, NJ offices for a Civil/ Highway Engineer with our Transportation & Infrastructure division. The team player we seek must have a BS/MS degree in Transportation Engineering and 8+ years of experience with NYC/NYSDOT or similar public agency and municipal projects. The candidate will be responsible for managing interdisciplinary projects, document preparation and production, managing sub-consultants, monitoring budgets, schedules and quality. The candidate must have experience managing and writing winning technical proposals. In-depth background in the design of highways and streets, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a NY PE license are required. Additional experience in Site/Civil projects, including preparation of Builders Pavement Plans, parking lot design, and site grading and drainage, for private sector projects, is a plus. The ability to interact well with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams is essential.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in NY is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation, highway and roadway design, or closely related engineering field.
  • Ability to manage and provide technical expertise in the following areas:
  • roadway/highway design,
  • Vertical and horizontal alignments,
  • Pavement section design,
  • Drainage system design.
  • Local NYC Experience is highly preferred.
  • Pavement Plans, parking lot design, and site grading and drainage, for private sector projects, is a plus.
  • The ability to interact well with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
