We are seeking a dedicated and caring Child Watch Attendant to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood development, education, and working with children of diverse backgrounds. The Child Watch Attendant will play a vital role in supporting families by ensuring children are well-supervised, entertained, and cared for in accordance with safety standards and developmental needs.
Duties
1. Nurtures children through purposeful play dedicated to making youth feel welcome and cared for while their parents or guardians are using other areas of the facilities.
Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers.
Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
Engages parents and volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
Maintains program site and equipment.
Maintains required program records.
Ensure that all staff and children are respectful of YMCA property; ensure all Child Watch rules are followed and enforced.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of Y standards.
Uphold safety and child protection standards per Y policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the
Qualifications
Must complete the following trainings: CPR/AED & First Aid certifications or equivalent certifications approved by the YMCA; Emergency procedure training; Child Abuse Prevention Training upon hire
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
At least 14 years of age.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION
The Le Mars Y is committed to the safety of all our members, program participants, guests, and staff. This commitment to safety includes child abuse prevention. All staff, upon hire, are REQUIRED to complete assigned child abuse prevention training within the first 30 days of hire. In addition, staff will be required to complete annual refresher training assigned by the Praesidium Guardian. All staff are required to read and sign our mandatory reporter policy.

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
