The Chief Projects Engineer, under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, oversees projects and general mine engineering for the Technical Services team, including mentoring, training, and developing engineering staff. Job duties include:

• Design, operation, monitoring, and control of the current ventilation, pumping and refrigeration systems for the Lucky Friday to satisfy ventilation standards, and mining requirements.
• Evaluation and proposal of ventilation, pumping, and refrigeration systems for mine expansions, and opportunities for system improvements.
• Design, operation, monitoring and oversight of mine infrastructure projects to ensure sustained operations for the Lucky Friday.
• Work with operations to develop executable project plans and schedules.
• Provide technical and leadership mentoring to engineering team.
• Work with other site departments to develop safe, efficient, and effective projects that will fall within the budget and meet established timelines.
• Evaluate all costs associated with each project including materials, costs of labor, project timeline, and prepare budgets.
• Negotiate contracts with contractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet budget.
• Ensure technical deliverables are met.
• Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in making minor adaptations and modifications to established engineering plans or systems.
• Develop and maintain a detailed working knowledge of the mine\xe2\x80\x99s operational issues and apply sound engineering practices to resolve them.
• Provide engineering support and guidance.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required.
• Professional Engineer designation preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in underground mining/heavy civil projects: pumping, ventilation, problem solving.
• Knowledge of fans, thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration, air conditioning, required.
• Knowledge of modern computer tools for modeling and design of large ventilation networks, computer aided design, 3d mine planning, and scheduling required.
• Supervision experience or experience directing the work of others.
