Duties

Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for a diverse range of construction projects, from initial conceptual budgets to final bid proposals. Oversee the entire estimating process, including quantity take-offs, pricing strategies, and risk assessments. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to interpret project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate estimations. Utilize advanced estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare comprehensive bids that reflect current market conditions and project requirements. Manage subcontractor and supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing while ensuring quality standards are met. Conduct thorough reviews of contracts, change orders, and scope modifications to maintain cost control throughout project execution. Implement effective cost control measures during project planning and execution phases to maximize profitability. Lead negotiations with clients and subcontractors to establish clear terms that align with project goals. Coordinate with construction management teams on site experience insights to refine estimates and improve future bidding accuracy. Maintain detailed documentation of all estimating activities for transparency, audit readiness, and continuous improvement.

Experience

Proven track record in construction estimating with extensive experience in managing large-scale projects across commercial, industrial, or infrastructure sectors. Strong proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid; familiarity with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in negotiation techniques that secure favorable terms while fostering strong relationships with subcontractors and clients. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, site management practices, contracts, and cost control methodologies. Solid understanding of construction management principles combined with hands-on site experience that informs accurate estimations. Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead teams effectively under tight deadlines. Familiarity with contract law related to construction projects ensures compliance and risk mitigation. Exceptional communication skills for clear articulation of estimates, scope clarifications, and negotiation strategies.
