Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview
The Center Administrator will manage the day-to-day operation of the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR). The Center Administrator reports administratively to the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health Director of Administration and programmatically to the CHOIR Director. The position interfaces between scholars and administration, students and faculty, people and programs, and works collaboratively with the CHOIR Director and Parkinson School leadership on strategy, planning, and execution of multiple large-scale CHOIR projects.

This position is based at the Health Science Campus (HSC) but may require travel to the Lakeshore Campus (LSC).

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management

• Manages multiple concurrent CHOIR projects, working in close collaboration with the CHOIR Director and affiliated CHOIR leadership.
• Under direction of the CHOIR Director, plans and manages strategic initiatives for the Center to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion, within budget and keeping stakeholders informed the entire way. For example, strategic initiatives will include:
• Coordinating annual Health EQ and CHOIR grant award program.
• Convening CHOIR stakeholders for conferences, meetings, and workshops involving students, faculty, and community partners.
• Interfaces with senior-level administrators across the university including provosts, deans, center directors and externally with public and private-sector leaders and partners.
• Grows the Center\xe2\x80\x99s understanding of the external Chicagoland health informatics ecosystem and strategizes accordingly.

Operational Administration

• Manages CHOIR daily operations, grants, and communications.
• Participates in the design and development of affiliations and contracts. Routes them for approval and execution.
• Coordinates and plans appointments, meetings, and events.
• Maintains data and records for CHOIR.
• Acts as point person for CHOIR projects and queries to enhance coordination throughout the center and university.
• Organizes and coordinates special projects and events.
• Other duties as needed.

Fiscal Administration

• Develops and oversees the center budget operations including the annual budgets, gifts, development, and other funding sources. This includes fiscal administration of the CHOIR Endowment.
• Monitors accounting reports and documents.
• Performs financial analyses and fiscal planning.
• Maintains optimal, cost-effective delivery of services.
• Prepares budgets for capital expenditures, operating expenses, grant and contract applications and funded awards.
• Prepares ad hoc financial reports as required.
• Authorizes all center expenditures including hiring authorizations, purchasing equipment, and professional services, facility improvement and repair, reimbursements and contractual agreements.

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Contributes analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data to support strategic initiatives; translates data into insights and narrative; communicates findings in a way that supports decision-making.
• Promotes the reputation and visibility of CHOIR and its affiliated faculty, staff, and community collaborators including planning, management, and tracking of key achievements.

About CHOIR
Hosted by the Department of Health Informatics and Data Science, The Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) is a university-wide center that enhances and facilitates collaborative, interdisciplinary research across Loyola. The Chair of Health Informatics and Data Science is responsible for stewarding CHOIR and serves as de facto director of the center.
Established in 2017 with a $25 million endowment, CHOIR was conceived to leverage Loyola\xe2\x80\x99s informatics infrastructure and big data across the Loyola University Health System, Trinity Health, and other collaborators \xe2\x80\x94 to transform data into actionable knowledge, ultimately improving health outcomes and reducing health inequities. CHOIR educates and engages faculty, health care professionals, resident physicians, and students in the fundamentals of health outcomes research, building a data-driven culture to improve health outcomes and health equity. Programs and activities span education, research, and practice, including high-impact sprint projects that focus on rapid testing and implementation of data-driven strategies to improve care.

• Proven working experience in project management including excellent organizational skills, budget management, attention to detail and multitasking skills.
• Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals at all levels. Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Office 365 (or similar collaborative suite).

Preferred Work Experience

• Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in health, business, or related field, consistent with duties.
• Proficiency in the use of statistical, database/data management, and/or survey software applications
• Advanced competencies in data analysis and data visualization
