This is a full-time position that works directly under the Director of Winemaking and assists in overseeing the management of staff and operations within the cellar to ensure quality wine production. They will proactively problem-solve all technical and mechanical issues while collaborating with the Winemaker ensuring winery systems and production assets are properly maintained. A qualified candidate must have strong desire for continuous improvement to guide our team to new heights. This person should feel comfortable working with a team, as well as on their own, and understand that attention to detail and communication is the key to ongoing success.

Core Responsibilities

(included but not limited to):

Serves as a leader in pursuing quality, efficiency, and safety for all cellar operations. Oversees and provides direction the Cellar Crew and Harvest Interns to efficiently complete operations assigned by the Winemaker with accuracy and proficiency. Trains and supervises full-time and seasonal staff on Standard Operating Procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and quality-driven work environment. Submits complete and accurate work orders. Responsible for day to day management of all tanks and barrels in the cellar. Moves, racks, and blends wine. Operates and instructs others on the safe use of cellar equipment. Purchases, replenishs, and inventories cellar supplies and safety equipment. Schedules, tracks, and completes preventative maintenance on production assets. Assists in solving logistical and operational problems. Participates in making modifications to SOPs, equipment, and facilities. Conducts facility inspection(s) for sanitization, organization, and performance. Communicates clearly and concisely with Winemaker. Maintains and uses proper PPE at all times. Ensures all tanks are clearly labeled with the appropriate information. Operates manual kegging line. Ensures cellar cleaniness and organization including cellar, tank, and equipment sanitation. Performs daily and weekly facility and equipment maintenance. Performs daily and weekly tasks as required by the Winemaker. Assisst in Tasting Room and vineyard tours as needed.

Qualifications:



Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and 10 key by touch. Accurate data entry skills. Have working knowledge of all cellar chemicals and their appropriate uses. Effective verbal/written communication skills in carrying out job duties with various departments and levels of management. 4+ years of full-time winery production experience. Demonstrates a clear passion for wine & the winemaking process. Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekend, especially during peak times of the year: harvest, bottling, tirage, etc. Safely and repeatedly lift 50 pounds. Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation. Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills. Ability to operate a Forklift and train staff.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
