Projects include new construction, rehabilitation, design / build, early contractor involvement, and turn key solutions.
Purpose:
  • This position will be responsible for delivering equipment, goods, and materials regionally or throughout the country using a trailer or tractor trailer. In this role, the CDL Driver / Laborer must safely operate and maneuver large vehicles to complete assignments and assist with other laborer duties as assigned when at job sites or in the shop.
Responsibilities:
  • Understand how to and demonstrate ability to safely operate assigned vehicle at all times. Follow and operate according to DOT laws.
  • Hauling / deliver equipment and tooling from location to location via heavy commercial vehicle, sometimes out of state.
  • Perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights, and mirrors prior to each leg of journey to ensure road readiness.
  • Follow and maintain loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo and re-checking their stability throughout trips. Must know how to secure loads properly and be able to disperse the weight of the load on the trailer properly.
  • Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to status of air lines and jack positions and adjusting them as necessary.
  • Visit weigh stations before and after packing to ensure that loads meet state safety regulations, making alterations to loads when required by law.
  • Recording times of delivery and hours worked. Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.
  • Adhere to traffic safety regulations at all times, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities.
  • Use GPS to stay informed of route information and communicate with supervisors.
  • Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Work as part of a crew and take direction from supervisors.
  • Complete assigned work activities in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements.
  • Focus on daily and weekly goals for the project with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Lift and carry tools and materials.
  • Flagging traffic.
  • Rig loads and signal equipment operators.
  • Assist with material handling and storage as required.
  • Perform general clean up around the job site.
  • Safely utilize hand tools to complete assigned tasks as required.
  • Operate various construction instruments to achieve proper layout and elevation.
  • Assist in building and/or erecting formwork for drilled shafts.
  • Tying rebar, placing rebar cages, placing large anchor bolts, placing concrete, etc.
  • Read, interpret, and follow plans, specifications, and other contract related documents.
  • Stock trucks with material commonly used on projects daily.
  • All other duties as assigned by Management.
Experience:
  • Construction 3+ years
  • CDL driving 3+ years
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Ability to learn and gain knowledge.
  • Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work as part of a crew and to follow work orders or receive instructions.
  • Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project.
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.
  • PPE includes but is not limited to the following: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed.
  • Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another.
  • Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10 or more in height.
  • Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights.
  • Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required.
  • Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required.
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required.
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Valid driver s license, CDL required (CDL Class A with Airbrakes preferred)
  • DOT medical card required
  • Applicable endorsements as required
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Travel:
  • Travel is required on an is needed basis.
