We are seeking a Case Aide (Social Service Assistant) to join our Child Welfare team in Salem.

What you need to qualify

One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs; OR...

Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections; OR...

45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training; OR...\xe2\x80\x8b

An associate degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services and six months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

Your duties at a glance

As an employee working within the , you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon\xe2\x80\x99s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.

As a Case Aide, you will:

Supporting caseworkers in a variety of ways, such as transporting children, supervising family time, and conducting research.

Helping arrange family time, including \xe2\x80\x9ccomfort calls\xe2\x80\x9d between parents and resource parents.

Assist in foster care placement and BRS placement coordination.

Ensuring that children stay up to date on medical, dental, and mental health checks.

Providing emotional support to children who are experiencing/have experienced trauma.

Helping family members complete forms correctly.

Letting family members know about available services and resources.

Performing administrative functions like coordinating background checks including OJIN, eCourts, LEDS, completing records requests, inputting data, and processing paperwork.

Working conditions

Work occurs in the office and in the field. Some travel is required.

Occasional paid overtime on nights and weekends may be required.

You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, exhibit challenges in controlling their anger, or other unexpected emotions impacted by drug use, cognitive impairments, or other factors.
