General Purpose
:
The CASA Case Manager is responsible for providing professional staff support to Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers ensuring that children involved with the Clay County CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning. The employee assists with supervising program\xe2\x80\x99s volunteers and case coordination. The employee is responsible for facilitating communication, collaborating and cooperating with Children\xe2\x80\x99s Division and other state and local agencies to ensure implementation of the best practice for the good of children in care. Occasionally, administrative assistance for other programs is required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Program Director
  • Provides assistance to the Program Director, staff, and volunteers to both the CASA and Transitions Programs
  • For the CASA Program:
    • Completes CASA training
    • Assists in recruiting, screening, interviewing and training new volunteers to the program
    • Reviews new cases and assigns volunteers to the appropriate case when necessary
    • Confirms assignments with Program Director
    • Prepares and distributes assignment documentation, when necessary
    • Reviews and distributes volunteer court reports to Deputy Juvenile Officers and the Program Director
    • Attends court hearings and tracks court dates
    • Provides support, assistance and consultation for volunteers as needed and/or requested
    • Attends case supervisor meetings for volunteers when necessary
    • Serves as liaison with social workers, attorneys, Deputy Juvenile Officers and others
    • Evaluates and maintains files for advocates and their current cases
    • Assists in developing strategies for advocacy
    • Ensures cooperation and effective communication with referring agencies and service providers
    • Contact liaison for all personnel between agencies for emergency issues and possible conflicts
    • Ensure all court orders, municipal, local and state laws ordinances and statutes are followed in daily practice of case work involving children and families
    • Educate and facilitate discussions of policy and program changes of agency
    • Mediate and facilitate case planning and goals between Children\xe2\x80\x99s Division and Family Court
  • For the Transitions Program:
    • Prepares paperwork for the Clay County Family Court
    • Generates copies of files, reports, memos, emails, letters for the Program Director, Transitions Case Manager, volunteers, court personnel, attorneys, and other agencies when appropriate
    • Responds to questions and requests for information
  • Follows all County and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and reasonably qualified to perform

:

  • Familiarity with Juvenile Courts and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of statutes and laws regarding juvenile cases
  • Basic knowledge of family systems and abuse/ neglect
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with staff, public and clients
  • Ability to handle potentially hostile situations with juveniles, family members and other parties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work activities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage own work schedule
  • Knowledge of supervisory skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain records, files and reports
  • Ability to make independent judgments and to follow oral/written instructions correctly

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field
  • Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and liability insurance
  • Must be able to attend training with overnight stays and make out-of-county trips as needed

:
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively on the telephone and in person and to hear equipment alarms.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written/typed documents and text materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and personal computer.
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 30 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time and work in an office environment.



Work Environment
:
  • Work is performed in a modern office setting, however, the position does require travel to other locations
