Duties and Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive individual and group career services, including but not limited to: defining career goals; developing career plans; navigating and understanding various industries; internship assistance; job shadow placement; part-time employment; work-study employment; resume and cover letter critiques; interview preparation; and connecting students with resources.
Promote and support student utilization of careerrelated technology tools.
Create, manage and grow industry-specific career communities for all MSU Billings students. Plan, coordinate, and present industry-focused career programming and workshops that offer tailored resources and opportunities for careers, professional development, and employer connections.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and employers to develop and implement a campus-wide career readiness program. Educate students on career readiness competencies, providing them with the tools and language to articulate the full array of marketable skills and talents gained through curricular and co-curricular activities.
Participate in and research topics for continued career education learning and professional development. Develop an advanced understanding of career services knowledge; research employment trends, industry insights, and best career services practices; curate and share this information with career specialists and campus partners. Create web and general content related to student career interests.
Utilize student information system (Banner) and advising tool (Degree Works) to access student academic information and document notes from meetings with students. Utilize CareerLink for managing career events and internship processes. Be familiar with and utilize career information tools and resources.
Participate in the data collection and analysis of the institution\xe2\x80\x99s annual grad survey. Communicate annual grad data to various constituencies.
Assist in the planning, managing, and coordinating career related events, both on campus events and virtual events.
Attend company-led presentations and meetings to learn from employers and share insight with students. Collaborate with the employer partners and advisory board to foster student-employer connections.
Represent Career & Employment Services at campus events, committee meetings and work-groups. Attend conferences and professional development meetings pertinent to advancing career services (when travel is permitted).
In addition to duties above: Career Specialists would also have an area of focus of either JLD Reporting/Work-Study coordination or Student Workers/Intern Supervision
Proficient knowledge of and experience with NACE core competencies
Experience preparing students for post-graduation success through career education and skill and professional development
Experience using Ellucian Banner and GradLeaders Interfase proprietary software or similar data program
