Available Shifts: Up to 12 hours a week

MWF mornings between 7am-9am

MWF afternoons between 2:45pm-5pm

T/TH mornings between 7am-9am

T/TH afternoons between 2:45pm-5pm




TITLE:

Van Aide

SUPERVISOR:

Transportation Coordinator, Operations Manager




MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) To provide safe transportation to and from the Center for people with disabilities, 2) No cell phone or ear bud usage of any kind, i.e. texting, talking, scrolling, etc. while clients are on the van and under your direct supervision 3) Ensure passengers are loading and unloading the van safely 4) Responsible for welfare of passengers on the van, 5) Completion of all required paperwork, and 6) Team Player


SPECIFIC DUTIES:



Provide safe transportation for people with disabilities:

Be on time for assigned responsibilities. Follow van aide transportation policies and procedures

Responsibilities for welfare:

Ensure passengers are loading and unloading the van safely. Follow protocol for loading and unloading of all types of wheelchairs (e.g. power, manual) while operating wheelchair lift. Check that all clients have their seatbelts locked and wheelchairs are secure before departure. Ensure that seatbelts remain locked for the entire drive. Address all needs of consumers on route including seizures, behaviors, and etc.

Completion of all required paperwork:

Take attendance Take effective and specific notes for any incidents as necessary. Complete other required reports (pre-trip inspection and mileage reports.)

Team Player:

Attend staff meetings/trainings as required. Completion of all training requirements i.e. CPR-FA, SOAR, Modules, etc., per your position by given due date. Request time off by following CETC Time-Off Policy and notifying Transportation Coordinator. The van aide is responsible for finding a substitute to cover their shift unless otherwise arranged. Carry out communication and develop a positive working relationship with the person parents, providers, staff and funding agencies in a professional manner. Assist with van clean up as needed Report any concerns to your supervisor and or coordinator. Develop pro-active solutions to concerns that arise. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) High school diploma or equivalency preferred, 2) Experience working with people with disabilities preferred, 3) Friendly, personable and able to provide detailed instructions to people with varying levels of abilities, 4) Team member, good communication skills, and able to work well with families, 5) Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
