JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for inspecting residential buildings to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances. Responsibilities may include performing inspections of residential properties; preparing reports; and responding to standard inquiries from the public.

Inspects residential properties for compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations. Compiles information to complete reports outlining inspection findings; reviews inspection reports for accuracy. Prepares residential/commercial properties for rehabilitation or demolition as needed; monitors contractors in performing scope to ensure proper completion; completes all required regulatory documentation as required. Responds to standard inquiries from the public. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

:

Associate's degree; or, High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 1 year of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

:

Valid State of Michigan Driver's License. Lead inspector and risk assessor certification (required within 90 days of hire, or when first class becomes available) Michigan Builders License preferred
