The Maintenance Supervisor (B&R) (hereinafter \xe2\x80\x9cB&R Supervisor\xe2\x80\x9d) is responsible for the efficient maintenance and operation of the boilers, air system, fire system, and refrigeration equipment at the optimal operating level for each piece of equipment. Additionally, the Boiler and Refrigeration (B&R) Supervisor is responsible to oversee all activities related to steam generation or freezing product. The B&R Supervisor will accomplish this by directing, coordinating, and planning the work and activities of the B&R Department personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize performance of all boilers, air system, fire system, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Monitor required inspections, repairs, corrections, and replacement of equipment in order to ensure long-term reliability of equipment.
  • Direct and maintain a complete record system on all equipment, which will allow for performance and quality checks of the equipment.
  • Manage the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program for the facility, which includes maintaining all documentation, providing periodic training, and continuously working to improve the process.
  • Provide adequate and timely maintenance, inspections, and audits of B&R Department equipment, processes, and personnel.
  • Maintain and progressively improve the B&R Department\'s preventive maintenance program to maximize the operation and reliability of the equipment.
  • Prepare and control B&R Department\'s budget within assigned guidelines.
  • Strive for operational efficiency through profit improvement, cost improvement, continuous improvement programs, and any other programs delineated by the company. Conduct special studies as assigned or perform self-initiated studies designed to improve department services with associated economics.
  • Advise management and/or engineering of existing or anticipated problems that could affect performance.
  • Develop full knowledge of all phases of overall plant operation, and its relationship to the B&R Department equipment and areas.
  • Oversee the operation of the energy recovery systems for the plant to ensure the maximum energy recovery for the facility.
  • Inspect, repair, and provide fire protection to all plant facilities.
  • Inspect, repair, and meet all air requirements for the plant facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as McCain Foods policies and procedures.
  • Analyze treatment of boilers and work closely with vendors to ensure proper condition of boilers is maintained.
  • Assist with capital projects for the steam, air, and refrigeration systems for the plant to ensure installation is done at the highest level of quality and within budget.
  • Participate with engineers, vendors, and other personnel to improve design of the boilers, air system, fire system, and refrigeration equipment and make recommendations for future needs.
  • Ensure that inspection, overhaul, repair, and operation schedules are appropriate and comply with company policies and procedures, as well as all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement process as a member of the leadership team. This includes taking an active role in process improvement initiatives, safety programs, employee training, root cause failure analysis, and upgrading personal skill level.
  • Available for consultation during all hours of factory production, and requires the ability to work flexible days and hours as needed.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership, direction, and training to B&R personnel.
  • Implement training programs for department personnel to ensure the safest and most efficient methods of operation.
  • Create an environment that encourages a high level of safety awareness within the B&R Department.
  • Manage or oversee the work schedules of B&R personnel, which includes monitoring attendance, vacations, leaves, training, and mandatory meetings.
  • Oversee all functions within the B&R Department working closely with the planner to ensure scheduling efficiency and execution of the schedule.
  • Evaluate all B&R personnel on a regular basis both informally and through the annual appraisal process.
  • Address B&R personnel\'s complaints, problems, disciplinary issues, and recognition opportunities in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
  • Frequent and continuous communication with B&R personnel with regard to any information, policy, procedure, or change that may affect them.
  • Manage and direct the HAZMAT Team for the entire facility.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Extensive understanding, knowledge of, and experience with PSM programs.
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with CMMS - SAP experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in ammonia refrigeration, boiler operation, and project management; and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Prior experience and training with emergency response plans and procedures.
