Job Description


JOB PURPOSE The Biosecurity Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for ensuring the implementation and adherence to biosecurity principles across the organization. Leading and overseeing primarily the biosecurity continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business operations, optimize processes, and increase overall efficiency. Will be a part of a cross-functional team to identify areas for improvement, implement improvement plans, and evaluate the impact of changes made. Experience in process improvement, project management, and team leadership is critical in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Develop and implement biosecurity protocols for the entire company.
  • Ensure that all biosecurity protocols are followed across the company.
  • Develop and implement training programs for employees on biosecurity best practices.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure that all equipment and facilities are maintained in a manner that supports biosecurity protocols.
  • Conducts regular biosecurity audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensures the company stays up to date with the latest biosecurity trends and technologies and implements new ideas.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations, including regulatory and industry groups, to stay current on industry standards and best practices.
  • Provides guidance and support during disease outbreaks and biosecurity incidents.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and biosecurity across the company.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure continuous improvement initiatives align with overall business strategy.

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree from a four-year college or university; preferably in animal science, veterinary science, or two or more years of related experience and/or 2 years of experience in biosecurity or related field.
  • Experience in hog production or other livestock production is preferred.
  • Knowledge of biosecurity principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • A clear and valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English preferred but not required.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel to multiple production sites throughout the states we operate in. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but sometimes very loud. The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends and overnight travel as requested.
